We would like to respond to the statement made by the Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association and inform the public that on February 18, 2025 the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia on its own initiative started two independent unplanned inspections, including
Examination of the lawfulness of biometric data processing through cameras (Tbilisi, Rustaveli Avenue) by the Ministry of Internal Affairs' public law legal entity – Public Safety Command Center 112
Examination of the lawfulness of biometric data processing in the administrative legal process through a special electronic program by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
Regarding this matter the Georgian Young Lawyers' Association will be notified in written form on February 20, 2025.
The two inspections of the lawfulness of personal data processing are currently in progress and therefore, according to the existing legislation, the Personal Data Protection Service is not able to make a preliminary assessment until their completion.
