Personal Data Protection Service has issued a recommendation on the “Minimum Standards for Personal Data Protection Officers”
On 7th of August 2024, a recommendation on the “Minimum Standards for Personal Data Protection Officers” was published by the Personal Data Protection Service.
The document forms clear and standardized approaches for individuals interested in data controllership and becoming a Personal Data Protection Officer (DPO).
The minimum standards was prepared with the support of The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the invited experts. The recommendation forms the minimal qualifying standard for Data Protection Officers, their knowledge, and personal qualities, as well as their rights, and obligations, in line with the relevant international standards.
The recommendation is prepared to assist organizations with Data Protection Officer training, compliance, and quality assurance matters.
The recommendation is created based on the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation). The document complies with European standards on quality and professionalism and it will assist Personal Data Protection Officers in their compliance efforts towards the new Law of Georgia “on Personal Data Protection”.
