A two-day training was conducted for the representatives of the law enforcement sector in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara


The Personal Data Protection Service held a two-day training for the representatives of law enforcement sector in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.

Representatives of the Service discussed in detail the novelties in the law of Georgia “On Personal Data Protection” and the challenges present to law enforcement bodies taking into account the specifics of their work and duties.

Among which are: ensuing a fair balance between privacy and safeguarding of public safety; determining the specific purposes of prevention, investigation and prosecution of crime, and the conduct of operative and investigative activities or the protection of the rule of law involving data deemed to be a state secret.  The Head of the Law Enforcement Sector Oversight Department  – Ia Kipiani, deputy head of the same department – Lika Taniashvili, Head of the Public Sector Oversight Department – Ketevan Kratsashvili and Deputy Head of the Legal Department - Shavleg Todua also discussed other important issues such as: model of the Data Protection Officer Institute and its role in ensuring the data subject’s rights, technical and organizational measures for data security, data masking priority and incident, as the importance of the new institute.

Practical examples and specific cases were present in addition to the theoretical information.

Representatives of the Ministry of Interior, General Prosecutor, Special Penitentiary Service of Georgia, National Agency for Crime Prevention Execution of Non-Custodial Sentences and Probation, Special Investigation Service, Investigation Service of Ministry of Finance and Special State Protection Service attended the two-day training.
