The Head of the President’s Office of Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia - Nikoloz Popiashvili participates in a conference organized by the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France on November 29, 2024. The main topic of the meeting is: "Artificial Intelligence and Personal Data Protection: Interconnected and Integrated Approaches".
Participants in the conference include members of the Council of Europe's Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAI), members and observers of the Advisory Committee of the 108th Convention (T-PD), representatives from Council of Europe member states, beneficiaries, and academic staff from the University of Strasbourg.
Nikoloz Popiashvili emphasized the strategy of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia regarding the implementation of European standards and presented the service's institutional development plan for integrating European best practices into the activities of the Personal Data Protection Service. In his statement, he discussed the connection between artificial intelligence and personal data protection, addressing the proportionality of the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence from a data protection perspective. He also deliberated on the institutions outlined in Georgia's "Personal Data Protection" new law and their significance in the process of personal data processing through artificial intelligence.
The Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia continues to cooperate with the institutions of the European Union and the Council of Europe and implementation the best European practices of personal data protection law.
