The Service celebrated International Personal Data Protection Day with an event


In addition to the employees of the Service, the event was attended by representatives from academic circles.
The President of the Personal Data Protection Service, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili, presented two special reports:

  • On the key activities conducted by the Personal Data Protection Service during 2022-2024 to establish the best European practices and standards in personal data protection law;
  • On the implementation of the Law of Georgia “On Personal Data Protection”.

Additionally Lela Janashvili Presented the “Dictionary of Personal Data Protection Law” developed by the Service, the dictionary includes important concepts and definitions from data protection law. The dictionary aims to improve data protection legal practice, as well as to inform the broader society on the main terms present in data protection law.

During the event, a collection of tests and case studies were presented.

In addition, President of the Service presented recommendations prepared by an application “Digital Advisor” created by the Service, interested persons may use this feature on the official website of the Service.

During the latter half of the event a retired judge of the German Federal Social Court, member of the editorial board of the bilingual, periodic, scientific publication “Journal of Personal Data Protection Law” and Professor at Philipps University of Marburg - Norbert Bernsdorff conducted an online lecture for the attending audience.
