The working visit of the representative from the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia to the institution of the "European Data Protection Supervisor" in Brussels has already begun.
Within the scope of the working visit, Nikoloz Popiashvili, the Head of the President's Office at the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia, will have the opportunity to study and analyze the best practices of the "European Data Protection Supervisor" in promoting the implementation process of Georgia's new law "On Personal Data Protection" and the activities of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia, aiming to align with European standards. Additionally, he will participate in research activities related to the new regulation on artificial intelligence, facilitating the exchange of research findings and practices in artificial intelligence.
It should be noted that the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia, as an observer, is already actively participating in the activities of the European Data Protection Board, one of the main bodies of the European Union in the field of personal data protection.
The establishment of such cooperation with the "European Data Protection Supervisor" expresses the strong support of European colleagues towards the young Georgian counterpart supervisory body and presents an unprecedented opportunity for the Service to be involved in the activities of the "European Data Protection Supervisor" institution, in addition to the activities of the "European Data Protection Board."
On January 16, Nikoloz Popiashvili attended the event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the "European Data Protection Supervisor." The audience present at the event was addressed by the European Data Protection Supervisor - Wojciech Wiewiórowski and the Secretary-General of the European Data Protection Supervisor's Institution - Leonardo Cervera Navas, who discussed the future activities of the supervisor's institution and current issues related to artificial intelligence in the field of personal data protection.
