Otar Chakhunashvili participated in the event focused on the development of the National Maritime Single Window System (NMSW)

The first deputy President of the Personal Data Protection Service Otar Chakhunashvili participated in the event focused on the development of the National Maritime Single Window System (NMSW).

The event was attended by representatives of the parties involved in the digitalization of port services: the Maritime Transport Agency, Georgian harbors, terminal operators, ship agents, representatives of the Revenue Service, Hydrography, National Environmental Protection Agency and Border Police.

During the meetings, Otar Chakhunashvili introduced the important news provided by the new law to the present audience. The senior lawyer of the office of the President of the Service, Lika Taniashvili, presented a detailed presentation regarding the legislative changes.

It is worth noting that both the Maritime Single Window (NMSW) and the Port Coordination System (PCS) include the receipt and processing of such personal data as crew list, passenger list, declaration of health and others. Accordingly, it is of great importance for the user involved in the system to familiarize himself with the changes provided by the new law "On Personal Data Protection".

The discussion held at the meeting focused on bringing the existing legislation in the field of personal data protection closer to European Union standards (GDPR), the right to privacy standard and guarantee of consolidation, legal grounds for processing of special categories data, to determine the minimum criteria of the lawful processing, right to access, the role of the personal data protection officer in public agencies and other important issues.
