Initiation of Training Cycle to Raise Personal Data Protection Awareness in Regions Inhabited by Ethnic Minorities
In order to raise awareness of personal data protection issues in regions inhabited by ethnic minorities, the service has initiated a series of training sessions in schools within the Kvemo Kartli region.
Meetings were held with approximately 60 pupils from International Maarif Schools located in Marneuli, as well as Marneuli N1 Public School.
In both Georgian and Azerbaijani languages, an informative lecture was delivered by Tamar Abazadze, Expert in Education Issues of the Personal Data Protection Service, Elshad Akhverdov, Legal Matters Specialist of the Law Enforcement Sector Oversight Department, and Saba Elizbarashvili, Senior Lawyer of the Legal Department, to the pupils of the schools.
During the meetings, special attention was given to the importance of protecting the personal data of minors. Pupils received information about what personal data is processed at school, on social networks, or in different spaces. They gained an understanding of the circumstances under which the processing of such data is in accordance with the law and when it is not.
The trainings were conducted in a question-answer format, allowing pupils to ask questions related to issues relevant to them.
The educational sector is one of the main priorities for the Personal Data Protection Service. Among them, regions inhabited by ethnic minorities bear a special significance. Conducting trainings, including in the Azerbaijani language, in the Kvemo Kartli region will help strengthen the culture of data protection among students.
