Representatives of the Personal Data Protection Service met with representatives of the education sector in Kutaisi

The meeting was attended by the heads of the regional resource centres of Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi, as well as lawyers.

The main topic of the meeting was the changes introduced by the new Law of Georgia "On Personal Data Protection". Attention was focused on the protection of personal data of minors and the procedure for the appointment of data protection officers, which will enter into force on 1 June.

The Personal Data Protection Service was represented by the Deputy Head of the Legal Department, Shavleg Todua, and the Service's expert in the field of education, Tamar Abazadze.

The meeting was held in the form of questions and answers. The needs of the education sector in the field of data protection and the organisation of additional training in relation to the changes envisaged by the new law were highlighted. The Personal Data Protection Service assured the Imereti and Racha-Lechkhumi of the Heads of the Regional Resource Centres of its full support in this matter.
