The Office of the Public Defender and the Personal Data Protection Service held a two-day working meeting


A two-day working meeting was held between the Office of the Public Defender of Georgia and the Personal Data Protection Service. The meeting was organized within the framework of the European Union project “Support to the Public Defender of Georgia”.

The event was opened with welcome remarks by the Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, and the President of the Personal Data Protection Service, Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili. Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili emphasized the importance of the partnership between the two institutions and the necessity of effective cooperation in the field of human rights protection, including the protection of personal data.

During the meeting, the First Deputy Public Defender, Tamar Gvaramadze, spoke about the Public Defender's mandate, the specifics, and the features of exercising its powers. The First Deputy Head of the Personal Data Protection Service, Otar Chakhunashvili, made a presentation on the topic: “The Specifics of Exercising the Mandate of the authority: The State of Personal Data Protection in Georgia; main Findings and Trends of 2024.”

During the meeting, employees of the Service discussed the main trends in personal data processing across the public, private, and law enforcement sectors.

In the concluding part of the working meeting, participants discussed opportunities for strengthening institutional cooperation and the prospects for future joint initiatives.
