In Seoul, at the Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, the President of the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia, Dr. Dr. Lela Janashvili, and the President of the Brazilian National Data Protection Authority, Waldemar Gonçalves Ortunho Junior, signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
Under the Memorandum, the parties agreed to take the necessary measures to promote mutual assistance on issues related to the protection of privacy, personal data, and information. The Memorandum further aims to: facilitate the sharing of experience between supervisory authorities and the exchange of best practices; develop education, training, and awareness-raising programs; and initiate and implement joint research projects, among other activities.
The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Korea, Tarash Papasqua; Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Mikheil Tigishvili; First Deputy Head of the Personal Data Protection Service, Dr. Otar Chakhunashvili; and Head of the President’s Office, Nikoloz Popiashvili. Representing Brazil, the Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Márcia Donner Abreu, and the General Coordinator for Institutional and International Relations, Mr. Eduardo Gomes Salgado, also took part in the ceremony.
A delegation from the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia is currently in Seoul to participate in the 47th Global Privacy Assembly, where the President of the Service is scheduled to deliver a report.
