The Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia will host the 75th meeting of the International Working Group on Data Protection in the field of Telecommunication (“IWGDPT”)
International Working Group of Personal Data in the field of Telecommunications, so-called “Berlin Group” was created in 1983 year. The purpose is to develop various recommendations to improve personal data protection standards in the field of telecommunications and the Internet. In addition to personal data protection supervisory authorities, the group includes various public agency, international organizations and individual experts in the field of personal data and privacy protection around the world.
It should be noted, that from March 21, 2016 year, the Data Protection Supervisory Authority of Georgia is a full member of the "Berlin Group" and annually participates in the workshops of group, which are devoted to the discussion of the best practices of different countries regarding the challenges in the field of telecommunications and innovative ways to solve them.
It should be noted, that in June 2025 year, the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia will host the 75th meeting of the "Berlin Group", where will be discussed the current challenges and trends in the protection of personal data and privacy.
