Information about the “Privacy Conference 2024”


Representatives of the Personal Data protection Service attended the “Privacy Conference 2024” a hybrid conference on privacy rights organised by the German digital association “Bitkom” on 9 and 10 October.

The first day of the conference was devoted to the German perspective on the right to privacy, while the second day was devoted to an international perspective on the issue. During the conference, several important topics were discussed, such as: Governable AI - regulation and practice; institutional strengthening of data protection in Germany; unstructured data; General Data Protection Regulation; technical and organisational measures for data security; challenges in keeping IT and AI in line with data protection; privacy-enhancing technologies, etc.

The second day of the conference focused on the European Data Protection Board's approach to obtaining consent, including the regulation of AI using the General Data Protection Regulation; current and future data protection challenges; the EU-US data protection framework; and other important personal data protection issues.

Up to 70 speakers attended the conference, including representatives of EU and other supervisory authorities, representatives of Big Tech companies such as Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, Tiktok and others, who shared their plans for the future of personal data protection.
